4th of July Mom Hacks: Kerplunk Game

4th of July Mom Hacks: Kerplunk Game

While you're at the dollar store, you should look for baskets like these. They make it easy for kids to haul stuff from the car and double as a homemade Kerplunk game while you hang out. ✨To play, just fill the bottom of the basket with big treats and prizes (like big league chew, glow sticks, cash, trinkets, or candy bars). Now add a handful of sour gum balls and then feed some skinny dowels through the slots. Flip the baskets over and have kids pull them out one at a time. Whatever falls out they get to add to their to-go bag 🎈 (see earlier post for details). If a sour gum ball falls out, they have to open it and chew it for 30 seconds 😝. It's a super-simple game that keeps the whole family on their toes.✨

If you need a candy-free 🍬version, try using ping pong balls instead. Just mark a few balls with red X's. The play is the same but goal is to have the least balls by the time the basket is empty. If you drop a red ball 💣you have to take all the balls from the person on your left and add them to your stash. Trust me, your kids will love this so much more than a movie on your phone. 👍🏻

Love this idea! What size are your dowels?
