Inexpensive shoe organization for big families

Inexpensive shoe organization for big families

Back to School Tip #6: Shoe Caddy. Ugh, shoes! We have six kids (three of whom have teen-size feet) so our house is full of shoes - especially when they all pile in the house after school. I'd love to store shoes in the garage but ours is low on wall space and freezing in the winter so that's just not practical.

My favorite tool for shoe stashing is this cheap wall caddy. I know, it's sorta weird...and the white pressboard screams 'I came from IKEA' but honestly, it is a total game changer for our house. I can fit around 25 pairs of shoes in here without any trouble.

The pull-out drawers are light and low to the ground so it's easy for my littlest kids to use yet still big enough to store my 15 yr old's mammoth shoes. Plus, it's only about 8in deep so I could easily tuck it opposite the homework desk and not mess up the traffic flow from the garage.

We can't fit everyone's shoes here but this is the prime spot for the everyday shoes, cleats and sandals. Sunday shoes are stored on the back of the door to the basement and winter boots are kept in the garage.

It's amazing how much cleaner my house looks when the shoes are under control. If you're tripping on footwear all day, it's time to hit the big blue store and pick this up (I bought it for $99). It takes a couple hours of Netflix watching to put together but it's totally worth it. #organization#shoes #mudroom #momhacks
